During Covid when the gyms were closed I decided to venture into the world of calisthenics. Both Dave and Nathan displayed detailed knowledge on how to build foundational strength, flexibility and technical skills on how to achieve my goals. Their after hour support and discussion particularly helped me on my calisthenic journey.
I cant recommend these guys enough. I am very new to calisthenics, having picked up Nathan's class in Rosebery earlier this year. Even though I am very much a beginner, you don't feel out of place as their classes really do suit all levels of fitness and skill level. And starting out - I had none.... !Once you know what your goal is - there are many different types of classes to choose from that will help you on your path. Some early morning starts or even afternoon sessions after work. There is something for everyone Mon-Sat.One great benefit of the classes is, you do have the ability to work at your own pace so there is no pressure at all. Do what works best for you at that time - all under the watchful eye of your trainer.Again - its highly recommended. The time to make a start was yesterday.
Very nice and organised training. Dave and Nathan are very detailed and always help me to fix incorrect postures to get more strength and stability. Also the guys encourage you too keep consistency and have scientific knowledge about what they teach.
Great experience with training with Maximum Potential, growing leaps and bounds in strengthening the body and learning some party tricks along the way. Dave genuinely cares about the well being of the team and is incredibly knowledgeable in callisthenics and health and fitness as a whole, and have learnt much from him. The man is a walking encyclopaedia haha.
I absolutely love training with MPC! I have tried many different gyms and group training programs in the past, but this is the first time I have become a regular and made a long-term commitment. Dave is a very approachable, friendly and knowledgeable trainer who helps to keep me accountable and reach my goals. The training sessions are tailored to my ability level and goals but not only that I have so much fun getting stronger and learning new skills. The MPC community is very supportive and friendly where newcomers are made to feel very welcome. I would highly recommend Dave and Maximum Potential Calisthenics!
Joined MPC as a fun alternative to the gym and also to improve mobility in my injured knee. Two months in I can again go down stairs without pain and am close to my first pistol squat!!! Dave is a great coach, and nails the balance between keeping each workout challenging without me ever feeling like i'll overdo it or injure myself. I'm impressed with how quickly I've gained strength with his approach.
Maximum Callisthenics has been a fantastic community and group to train in .They have trainers that are quite knowledgeable and very passionate about Callisthenics .I have been part of this group for a few years now and Dave has really brought my strength to another level that I have never thought I would reach .Recommend MPC to anyone !
I have been training with Dave 3 times a week since the end of January. It started out as a goal to get stronger for a Spartan competition but he turned into the highlights of my week as I look forward to progressing my strength with a great trainer and an amazing community. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for strength training!!
Ive been training with MPC for a few months now, they’re a very welcoming bunch and it’s a relaxed training environment, having said that, I came to MPC with a few years of consistent traditional strength and conditioning gym training under my belt and all I’ll say is that it has been a very humbling experience, the general calibre of the students is testament to the quality of the training and coaches.
I have training with Dave once a week and could not recommend them highly enough. I have gone from struggling with a few pull ups to being able to comfortable sound several sets of 10 and have certainly improved my upper body strength. Sessions are certainly enjoyable and include a lovely variety of different exercises. I once again recommend Max Potential Calisthenics and recommend anyone interested in functional body strength training to get in touch and start your own journey!
Dave has been instrumental as a trainer in improving my strength, endurance and overall health condition in the last 6 years. Very knowledgeable and experienced, he has helped me with my dodgy knee and lower back problems. Calisthenics is fun and Maximum Potential Calisthenics makes it even more fun. Highly recommended!
I’ve been training with Nathan for around 5 weeks now, PT and group classes. In such a short time My strength has progressed a lot and learnt so many things. He is very professional and pushes me to achieve my goals. Highly recommended
Calisthenics is the best “bang for your buck” exercise hands down. It combines strength, mobility and endurance into a one hour session to make you feel like you’ve run a marathon. As a Long time student (4+ years) I’m constantly finding new ways to improve my body through MPC.Excellent trainers with a thorough knowledge of the body to help get the most out of your workouts and you’ll feel muscles you never knew you had.You begin with foundations and safely move through progressions to more advanced exercises. You’ll meet people from all walks of life with the same vigour for working out as you and having classes motivates you to get up and go.I can’t recommend MPC enough and recommend anyone to try at least one session.
I was looking for an entry-point into Callisthenics and MPC has more than delivered. The main benefits of joining MPC for me have been:- Small class sizes.- The quality of the training location, Turruwul Park, which has a comprehensive outdoor gym, good tree cover, and 2 tennis courts in which to practice handstands.- The variety of classes available throughout the week (Pull Strength, Push Strength, Hand balancing, Mobility, Core, Bar Skills).- The technical knowledge of the instructor (Nathan).- The playful, social atmosphere of the classes. After 8 weeks of attending these classes, my arms and shoulders are bigger, and my handstand has improved significantly. I would highly recommend MPC.
Nathan is such a great coach, he really knows how to get the best out of me. He really pushes me and knows so much about correct cali technique and strength training. Even when I turned up tired today, he amended the workout on the spot according to how I was feeling. And to leave me finishing on a high, able to do a new skill, that was really good coaching. Highly recommend!!
I started with Maximum Potential Calisthenics a little over 6 years ago with David Mace. I was bored of lifting weights at the gym and had always wanted to learn how to muscle up. I had practiced online progressions and spent some time at a CrossFit gym, but felt like I was going nowhere! When I first met Dave, I told him my goal and within 2 sessions I had my first successful, albeit inconsistent, muscle up. Dave’s patience, commitment, professionalism and expert knowledge really sets him and the MP Calisthenics team apart from most other fitness professionals. Over 6 years later I can now do free standing handstand push-ups, back levers, front levers and human flags. I would highly highly recommend the crew at Maximum Potential Calisthenics to anyone wanting to change their fitness lives!
I started training with Nathan a little while ago as a complete beginner. I have since noticed great strength and mobility gains and have learned heaps about a very new method of training! I could not recommend the team more you will learn and grow very quickly!
Amazing crew and amazing community! I started as a beginner and they made me feel part of the family since the first moment! With such an incredible consideration for everyone's needs and goals, I experience every day their knowledge and passion in what they do, keeping all of us extremely motivate in order to reach our limits and set up new ones every week! Absolutely suggested to everyone!P. S.Nathan knows Italian better than me, and I'm Italian!! Just unbelievable
Highly recommend these trainers, they are knowledgeable, friendly and professional. I’ve been training with them for over a year and a half and have been seeing great results in my stretch and fitness.
Nathan and his team are the most wonderful and professional group that you're ever likely to meet. You will hit all of your goals and have a laugh doing it. Amazing community too, friendly and fun with none of the macho grossness of some other fitness options.
I have been training at MPC for about 4 months now and have seen a quick improvement in my strength. The group training sessions are great, they are the right amount of fun and also keep me accountable and on track with my goals. Dave is super knowledgeable and ensures there is always a regression or progression exercise depending on how you are tracking / injuries / goals, meaning classes are always productive. There is also a great variety of classes to choose from. Highly recommend for anyone who wants to see some progress in their training.
I've trained with MPC for a couple of years, mainly at Observatory Hill, and it's awesome. Noticed the progress after a few weeks. Great atmosphere, especially Saturday mornings. Give it a month and you wont want to stop
Have trained with them since 2018. Knowledgable, practical, and supportive team. Strength and ability has improved substantially with no real injuries. Lots of ways to approach training and levels of commitment. Feel very lucky to have found them!
Maximum Potential Calisthenics is a great crew of knowledgeable, dedicated and genuine trainers with a robust program that can fit to any fitness level. You'll learn a wide range of body-weight exercises you can do without gym equipment, improve your mobility and flexibility as well as learn some advanced hand balancing.I can say under Dave and the team I saw more improvement in my strength, mobility and general fitness in a year than many years of other training.
I would recommend Maximum Potential Calestheniics to everyone! For myself, MPC are a great team, that keep me motivated and challenge me to approach each day, with the idea that 'today I will do better than yesterday'. They've let me go at my own pace, yet keep encouraging me to improve on any mental or physical barriers I have, towards progression. They all also make training fun!I enjoy calestheniics for many reasons, it's outdoors but doesn't have to be outdoors. And personally I find that there's elements of meditation and art to the discipline, helping you grow stronger each day. Also, as someone who previously had one prolapsed disc in my lower back and some further nerve impingement higher up, its been a fantastic discovery to help regain my fitness. Keep it up guys. Thanks, Chris.
I have been training with Dave for the past 2 years and have found the small group PT sessions work very well for me, as they are social with the benefits of having a personal trainer. The hyper strong sessions have been a game changer in increasing my overall strength and also give me a work out I always look forward too
Definitely worth a try!Dave, Nathan and Anthea know how to guide you to reach your goals whatever they are. My push ups got stronger, I can now do side to side pull ups and my dragon flag has never been this low and controlled. In addition to these, my skills are improving every week. My back lever is now solid and I'm starting to see good results from my front lever preparation too.On top of that, it's real fun working out with these guys!
When I first started I couldn’t do a chin-up and managed 1 pretty unconvincing push-up. Now, I could do 3 chin-ups, 20 push-ups and a 5sec free standing handstand among other things that I never dreamed of doing (like dragon pistol squats and a standing back-bend). The trainers – Dave, Nathan, Anthea and Myles – are the friendliest and most dedicated coaches. I highly highly highly recommend them.
I have always done my fitness routines at gyms but with Covid restrictions was looking at things I could do with just body weight exercises and found this thing called "Calisthenics" 😊My entire experience with Maximum Potential Calisthenics has been awesome! I messaged them over the Christmas break and was surprised that they were able to organise a fitness assessment for me with Nathan in the first week of January 2021. I had a few concerns having NO previous calisthenics experience at all but Nathan was able to quickly put my mind at ease and I joined up in the second week of January.Since joining I have only gone from strength to strength over the last 2 months…- from never being able to do a handstand (fear of falling on my head) to now progressing to do a wall handstand hold (28 sec).- from never being able to do a pull up or chin up unassisted to doing 2 pull ups and 4 chin ups unassisted- my maximum deadlifts in December 2020 was 80kg, February 2021 is 130kg (attribute this largely to the improvement in the grip strength required for calisthenics)Nathan is an awesome coach and takes the time to find out your goals and weaknesses so you can improve on them. The crew that show up to Turruwul Park are awesome, very friendly and supportive. Am sure the rest of the MPC coaches are just as great and have no hesitation in recommending them if you want to give it a go (which you should). My only regret is not having done it sooner!
Dave, Nathan, and the rest of the crew are amazing. If you’re thinking of getting into calisthenics (which you should), give them a go.I came in mid-September not knowing a thing. Three-ish months later, I’ve got a solid training regime and am feeling stronger than ever. The MPC crew is great at keeping check of your progress so you don’t stagnate. They also get the best out of you each session without it being a slog. The crowd that shows up (for group sessions) is a solid bunch, too.I started by reaching out to Dave via phone. He called back and patiently took in my situation. We even had a quick 1:1 session to figure out where I’d start, if I chose to join. I’d recommend doing the same.
The coaches are great. They take the time to find out your goals and weaknesses so they can work with you on reaching them. The community is also amazing, everyone is very supportive and friendly. I enjoyed my time there and look forward to coming back
I started maximum potential calisthenics about 7 months ago and have seen more progress than ever. Not only a wonderful soul Dave knows my strengths and weaknesses exactly and how to improve them. The community in maximum potential calisthenics is fantastic and I enjoy coming to every session :)
Dave and all the trainers at MP Calisthenics are brilliant! The training sessions are practical, focused and supportive. It has been great to see my strength + definition improve - week by week - all in a friendly and energised environment. The horizontal classes and headstands are the best! As the inspiring name suggests, Maximum Potential Calisthenics really helps one to achieve their maximum potential - one calisthenics exercise at a time.
I've been training with Dave for more than one year and a half. My progress has been great. I went from not being able to do more than 5 chin ups to doing archer pull ups and 35kg weighted pull ups. He knows a lot about calisthenics and fitness in general while also being a great guy. All the classes have a great atmosphere since everyone is friendly. The other trainers are also great. I recommend training with Dave in either Jannali or Observatory Hill if you don't like the gym environment and/or doing weights.
