Mid-Year Training Update and Goals

As we approach the end of June I thought it’d be a good time to give an update as to where I currently am with my Convict Conditioning and what my end of year goals are. I’ve also noticed that I’ve been doing CC with various training plans for around a year now.

Pushups – At the beginning of the year I dropped down a couple of levels down to standard pushups as I wasn’t progressing and wanted to concentrate on form. I’m now back up to uneven pushups, I consider my form to have improved massively and I can now do one arm pushups with my right arm with wide legs.

Goal: I think I will probably skip level 8 half one arm pushups and go straight to lever pushups when I progress, so I’d like to be nearly at the progression standard of lever pushups by the end of the year.

Pullups – My pullup form has improved a lot, I can now comfortably do 2 sets of over 10 reps whilst keeping my legs perfectly still. I’m now doing them uneven on rings with the aim of building the distance between the rings.

Goal: The straps on the rings have notches a few inches apart. I’m currently training with one notch distance between my rings, by the end of the year I would like to be up to 4 notches which would be about a foot.

Handstands – For me the most difficult of the exercises, I’ve probably only added about 30 seconds in 6 months to my handstand time.

Goal: I’ve got to be aiming for the 2 minute handstand though at the pace I’m progressing this is going to be difficult.

Bridges – I’ve improved a lot in the last 6 months, I could barely do one bridge at the beginning of the year, I’m now doing wall walking down bridges.

Goal: I’d like to be on wall walking down and up by the end of the year.

Hanging Leg Raises – At the beginning of the year I was on level 9 but very close to progressing. I’m now doing hanging V raises, though I have to say these are very difficult.

Goal: Would like to be able to do 20 reps of these by the end of the year with improved range of motion.

Pistols – I’m currently at half one legs squats, mainly because my right leg is ridiculously weaker than my left.

Goal: I’ve got to be aiming to do full pistols with both legs, I’d like to be able to do 10 reps on each leg.

I’ll revisit these goals at the end of the year and see how I did.
